Two of us, London to Tokyo, business, sometime in March
On it. I'll check award seats across the major programmes and price the cash fare alongside.
✈️ LHR → Tokyo · Business · March 1️⃣ Japan Airlines · Direct 60,000 Avios + £180 pp 2️⃣ ANA · Direct 55,000 points + £210 pp Cash for the same cabin is £3,400 pp.
I'd take the JAL seat — fewer points, lower taxes, and you can move Avios across from Amex at 1:1.

No idea what
you’re sitting on?

Most people have no idea whether their balance is worth £200 or £6,000. The answer depends entirely on how you spend it.

Point Proven Max
I've got some Avios and a load of Amex points, no idea if that's a lot
Let's find out. Roughly how many of each, and do you have a trip in mind or are we working out what's possible?
About 120k Avios and 90k Amex
That's a genuinely strong position — better than most people realise. Spent badly (upgrades, seat fees, Amazon) that's worth around £900. Spent well it's two business class seats to the Middle East, or one to Asia, for a few hundred in taxes. Call it £4,000–6,000 of value. Same points. The gap is entirely in how they're used.
One thing to know now: don't move the Amex across until you've found the seat. The transfer is one-way, and sat where they are those 90k can become Avios, Flying Blue, Virgin or a few others. Once they're Avios, they're only ever Avios.

It knows where to send you,
not just how to get there.

Hotels, restaurants, which month to go and which to avoid.

Beach and chill in Italy for a week in June, just the two of us
Italy in summer is gorgeous and you clearly have good taste. One honest note: it's peak season, so prices are at their highest along the coast. Here's where I'd recommend:
🌴 Sardinia Costa Smeralda is one of Europe's most beautiful coastlines. Porto Cervo is the upscale hub. 🏨 7 Pines Resort — Michelin Key, 37 clifftop acres, beautifully quiet. 🍽️ Il Fuoco Sacro — one of only five Michelin stars on the island. The one to book.
Both are independent, so not points-bookable — but that's exactly where our direct hotel relationships earn their keep. Share your dates and I'll get an advisor on it.

And when it goes wrong,
it argues your corner.

A cancellation can leave you helpless. Provides you the information you need, when you need it.

Point Proven Max
⚠️ BA112 has been cancelled. Before you speak to the airline, three things worth knowing:
The choice is yours, not theirs. A full cash refund, or re-routing at the earliest opportunity. You pick. Re-routing includes another airline if they get you there sooner. They rarely offer it. Ask for it by name. Don't take a voucher in place of a cash refund. They also owe you meals, and a hotel if it goes overnight — whatever caused this.
Let me search for alternate flights ✈️ Still flying LHR → JFK today Virgin VS3 · 15:20 · 4 seats American AA101 · 17:45 · 9 seats Name one of those at the desk when discussing rerouting.
They're telling me the next available seat is tomorrow morning
Don't accept that. VS3 leaves at 15:20 today with four seats showing. Re-routing at the earliest opportunity is the wording, and it includes another carrier. Ask for Virgin VS3 by flight number.
Worked. I'm on VS3
Good. Keep the boarding pass, and keep any receipts for food while you were waiting — that's reclaimable separately.
One more thing. You'll land about five hours later than ticketed. Under UK261 that's £520 each, and accepting the re-route doesn't waive a penny of it. Want me to draft the claim?
Yes please
Drafted and in your inbox — dates, flight numbers and the regulation cited, ready to send. I'll check in when you land.

you'd never think to ask.

The expensive mistakes in this industry are the ones you don't know you're making.

⏳ Heads up Your 48,000 Avios expire on 3 March. A single Amex transfer resets the clock — want me to find something worth spending them on instead?
💰 Worth knowing Lufthansa is running a 50% bonus on purchased miles until 31 October. On the Cape Town trip you were pricing, that's the difference between 143,000 and roughly 95,000.
📝 You're owed money That BA112 delay ran over three hours. Under UK261 that's £520 each. I've drafted the claim letter — want me to send it over?
